4 out of 5 stars Great game, some small problems   September 2, 2010
Psychopuppy
The only major complaint is a lack of pause button... well that and the mechanics behind the "Invasions". One aspect of this game's online community is a mode where another player can "invade" your game world. Fantastic idea for anyone interested in PVP action, but a little annoying in practice. There's some good variety of PVP equipment (Scraping spear for one) which have no real benefit in the main game but can be equiped by the invader, leaving the poor sap being invaded at a disadvantage. Worse, should this invder kill you it can disrupt your carefully managed world tendency and effect many aspects of that world... A serious downfall in my opinion. The PVP aspect should be an agreed meeting between two people, not a one sided assault. The game does seem to match invader/invadee fairly well based on Soul Level, but since you can either pay to level up or buy equipment, Soul Level is a poor indication of strength. Outside of that, it's a fantastic game and I spend most of my day at work looking forward to diving back into once I get home.

Bosses are amazing (Dragon God will blow your mind). Combat mechanics are well done and constant (rolling ALWAYS makes you invincible, not mostly invincible EXCEPT for some against bosses attacks). Even the normal enemies through the levels are challenging at first. I bought this about 8 months ago, and just didn't play it for the last 7 or so - it takes A LOT of your time. If you have kids, a gf/bf, a full-time job and a side business do not buy this as it'll collect dust. I get about an hour or so a night and I find that's not enough!

Quick tip for the instances of unwated invasion/death - Hit the PS button and quit the game. The game autosaves after you pass an archstone or pick up an item. If you fall off a cliff and don't want to loose all your souls, quit the game ASAP. If some jerk invades with the intent of killing/laughing at you, kill normal enemies untill you pick up a drop and quit the game ASAP. You only effect world tendency if you die while in body form, so only in that instance should you be worried about dieing all together. In soul form you're just loosing souls and the ground you've covered.

This game is amazing. It just has to be experienced - you can't do it justice in words.

3 out of 5 stars It's hard when you're not a nerd.   July 12, 2010

The first 20 minutes of gameplay are great. But that's all I can tell you because I can't get any further. And I am a bit of a nerd. It's that hard. So if you've got a hobby or a girlfriend, don't bother.

5 out of 5 stars Don't get me wrong, its an amazing game, but..   July 1, 2010

Amazon doesn't let you price-match it when the price drops. It went down to $27.99(!) but I got it much higher..

The game is fantastic, I would definitely recommend the game. It's just perhaps you should consider buying/price-matching it somewhere else.
