Very Frustrating August 20, 2010 DinaBookLvr I couldn't wait to read this book after it came in the mail. But I was very dissapointed in the book which began even in the first chapter. I haven't finished reading due to the author's confusion about God. This started in the first chapter called, "About God" and was sprinkled throughout the parts that I read.
Good But Lacking August 19, 2010 Michelle Scott I'm reading this book for a second time and yet I rate it as only a 1 Star. Why? The book is excellent in helping discover truths about the root causes of overeating and other compulsions. I rate it a 5 star in it's relevance to women. But as a book about God, I can only give it a 0 Star. This book is NOT about God and should NOT have God in the title. The author, who is obviously intelligent, has the skills and discipline to learn the truth about many things. I was hopeful that this book would have solid truths about God as the title implies. It did not. God makes Himself known to those who diligently seek Him. Even the descriptions of heaven and hell were juvenile and irrelevant. Still, I'm glad I read the book, I just had to filter out many things. I would caution other readers, however, that this book is not about God in anyway, shape or form. It will help you with compulsive overeating.

I purchased the cd version. This is the most real, user-friendly self help book I have ever encountered. I have joined a paid for on-line pre-recorded workshop, led by Geneen Roth, a free 15 week Oprah site where partcipants can journal privately or post publically....Life changing, not another diet, takes focus, not a quick fix and it addresses the flat lives we lead when dulled by any addiction.
Amazing insight; wonderful thought provoking explantions July 31, 2010 Taralynn This book REALLY hit home for me. Having been an emotional eater for most of my adult life, this book gave me such wonderful insight on why I am this way, and more importantly, the steps I can take to rid myself of the title of "Emotional Eater". Thank you so much Ms. Roth for helping us become more aware of who we really are! Bravo!
A lesson on giving The Voice the finger (not a diet book) July 2, 2010 Marianne73 (Montreal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With this book Geneen has taught me more about my emotions than 35 years of living, reading and questioning has.
I'd been looking under every rock and it fell into my lap disguised - can you believe it? - as a diet book.
I have no issue with my weight, but i do have more than my share of food insanity. Like Geneen, I felt peaceful and connected when I meditated, only to discover that I had put my old "misery coat" back on later on in the day. With her own story (and a promise that the bark is wayyy worse than the bite) Geneen gives us the courage to confront our icky feelings and (finally!) overcome them.
Ya. Just like that.
If you're looking for a way to stop living your life in your head, this is it. Enjoy!
