| Customer Reviews: Just plain fun... August 27, 2010 Simon If you liked the first GTAIV with Nico and all but you wanted more story gameplay, get this. It's just plain fun... My only deception is getting back to the PS3 version after trying the PC version with top graphics. PS3 graphics for this game are OK compare to PC...PCs are awesome :)
but besides that, it's a fun 'lie down on the couch when you are bored' game...
It's a Nice Expansion August 17, 2010 D. Berube (Peterborough, ON Canada) Well first off, it's definitely GTA IV all over again, the interface, controllers and even the city itself are all the same as these are just expansions. But one thing off the bat is these expansions introduce some new weapons to the game that make the online experience more fun and The Ballad of Gay Tony introduces skydiving (similar to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) to the game offline and online. So if you were a huge fan of GTA IV's online mode, this is probably a worthwhile purchase just for the new online features you can play with.
Now the story modes in each game are about two characters that cross paths with the main storyline of GTA IV so if you've played GTA IV, it's quite fun to play through the missions in these expansions from a different perspective. But from there it's standard mission GTA IV gameplay, go kill some people, blow some stuff up with a few variances there so if you found GTA IV repetitive then the story mode might not interest you that much in the expansions either. But on a positive note with the two expansion packs put together you've probably got a good 6-12 hours of gameplay without going to far looking for anything within the cities.
That being said for the online improvements alone, I think it's the worth the purchase price and if you're a fan of the original game the story mode is definitely worth playing, it just isn't perfect nor did it introduce anything truly new to the franchise hence why I wouldn't give it a 5 star rating.
The fun continues... May 12, 2010 Hollywood (Silicon capital of the world) Just when you thought the streets of liberty city were safe from maniacal, rocket launcher wielding gangsters, here comes 2 new psychopaths. In GTA episodes from liberty city, you'll be introduced to Johnny "the Jew", vice-president of the Lost, a motorcycle gang, and Luiz the ex-con womanizing personal bodyguard and "associate" of the night club owner "Gay Tony". In this spin off of GTA IV, you'll go back and revisit some of the original game's missions from the perspective of the new player characters and experience their own struggle to stay alive in this city full of mobsters, hitmen and drug addicted paranoid gangsters. Full of new guns are introduced as well as a couple new vehicles for your pleasure and entertainment. As well as new radio dialogue and songs, new mini-games and features that make this game feel different than GTA IV but in a good way. With an active online community, you'll soon find yourself playing this game for days on end. Well worth the purchase price.
